Best Breakout Star : Hourglass Cosmetics

Like I did last year, I am now going to talk about a few standout products from the list! First of all, I want to talk about Hourglass Cosmetics and why I chose them for both Best High End Brand AND Best Breakout Star. I feel like this year Hourglass came out of nowhere with amazing and innovative products. Their Ambient Lighting Powders are already a guru favorite and are quickly becoming a staple in most beauty lovers collections. I think its fair to say we have never seen something quite like these powders just based on the sheer innovation, versatility, and quality. They also have an amazing range of foundations and other products that I look forward to becoming more familiar with.

Next, the Butter London Wink Mascaras are sadly not as celebrated as I feel they should be; which is why they were almost this years Most Underrated Product ( which ended up being the Neutrogena Crease Proof Eyeshadows because they are literally the easiest and quickest cream eyeshadow to use, and I have never heard anyone talk about them)….back to the Wink Mascara….Not only does this mascara has a great wand and color range, but the colors are insanely gorgeous AND pigmented. With only two coats I can get a fully opaque purple lash.

Finally, I want to discuss the Best Foundations of the year. The Best High End Foundation, CK One 3-in-1 Face Makeup (another breakout star), is the best of the year because it has one of the most natural finishes I’ve ever seen as well as feeling like there is nothing on the skin. It has an SPF of 8, a light pleasant scent, and keeps the skin healthy and clear. As for the Best Drugstore Foundation, I chose the Covergirl Clean Whipped Creme because it is extremely blendable and full coverage, which means it never looks cakey.

I hope you enjoyed this post! And make sure to let me know your favorites for the year !!!!!

Holy Grail Product!

Let me first start by saying that I have always had very fine, thin hair and have tried multiple hair treatments, shampoos, etc claiming to make my hair look great. Unfortunately my hair would either be ONLY volumized, but left dry, or ONLY moisturized, but left flat. So after going through that my whole life, I can confidently say that the Roots Hair Treatment from LUSH is the absolute perfect product for my hair. I will even go so far as to say it is my HOLY GRAIL hair treatment.

The three main ingredients that make this product work so well are peppermint, honey, and olive oil. They are combined in a way that i get every ingredients benefits without one overweighing the others. Peppermint is great for your hair because it balances the pH levels of your scalp, controls oil and supplements dryness. And once your pH levels are balanced properly, your hair can grow faster and healthier. Honey also encourages hair growth due to the sugars it contains. It is also a great moisturizer because it is a humectant, which means it will hold the water/moisture molecules to your hair. Lastly, as you can imagine, Olive Oil is a fantastic moisturizer. It helps combat dandruff, mends split ends, and leaves your hair super soft and shiny (as long as you apply it properly; I knew a girl in high school who gave herself a straight olive oil hair mask, roots to ends, and had to come to school with greasy looking hair for almost a week! eek!) Luckily Lush has balanced this treatment so that wont happen to you!

The scent of Roots is pepperminty with a touch of Lush’s signature weirdness that I can never quite pinpoint. Happily, the scent does not linger in your hair once you rinse it out. The texture is a blend between a cream and a gel, and it spreads decently through your hair. I have very long hair and I use 1 to 2 1/2 tablespoons of product depending on if I am doing a full on hair treatment session or just a quick shower.

Overall I LOVE this product and the results its given me. Here are some pictures of the product:

Best “Lazy” Tip For Clean Skin!!!

This is the best tip I can give you guys for how to clean your skin when you’re really really tired! All you do is follow these easy and really quick steps:

1. Use a makeup remover wipe to get all of your face and eye makeup off. I use the Neutrogena makeup remover wipes.

2. Get a hot washcloth moderately to heavily soaked in water and place over your entire face. (kind of like at a spa facial) Do this until your face is steamy and your pores feel open. Then wipe off the excess makeup and residue with the washcloth.

3. Spray your face generously with the Lush Tea Tree Water Toner

This should take way less than five minutes, which is way better than removing your makeup, cleansing, toning, treating, moisturizing, etc. which takes me about ten minutes each night (I’m very thorough). By doing these three steps, you’ll be cleansing your skin and prepping it to look good the next day ; instead of doing nothing and getting breakouts and makeup all over your pillow.

The reason why this works so well is because of two things. One is that after you remove your makeup with a wipe, you prep it to accept treatment better by steaming the skin with a hot washcloth. The second is the actual ingredients in the Tea Tree Water toner. The three main ingredients in the toner are tea tree, grapefruit, and juniper berry.

Tea tree is a natural antiseptic, antibacterial, and antifungal, which basically means its going to heal, protect, and clean any kind of blemish on your skin, as well as your skin as a whole.

Not only is Grapefruit high in vitamin C (which is fantastic for the skin) but it is also an anti-inflammatory, which is skin calming and it increases pH levels to combat acne and balance oil levels.

Juniper Berry is awesome for unclogging pores due to its detoxifying and astringent qualities.

Please try this out the next time you’re too tired to properly take care of your skin and let me know what you think! Check out my video for more info!

Lush Holiday 2012

Hi y’all! I’m so excited about Lush’s holiday goodies this year! About two weeks ago I picked up just a few new things to try before I go all out and stock up on my favorites, so heres what I think! :

Father Christmas

The Father Christmas bath bomb is a wonderful scent combination of clove, vanilla, and brandy. It’s super relaxing and seems to just warm up your mind, body, and soul. It is supposed to come with a “surprise” inside, but mine didn’t  😦 Though I was surprised the water turned deep green, instead of the pink-redish color I was expecting. If you like BBW Twilight Woods or Warm Vanilla Sugar, you’ll like this. I know I do!

Cinders

Cinders is one of my ALL TIME favorite holiday luxuries! This one I had tried before so I stocked up big time. This bath bomb smells like sweet cinnamon and is actually filled with little popping candies so during your quiet bath time, it sounds like you’re out in a fantastic luxury wilderness spa next to a crackling fire.  Fantastic, right?!

Santa’s Sack

I was initially very excited about this bubble bar because it is essentially a three in one, one bubble bar being the “sack” and two others being the “presents” that actually can be pulled out of the sack. It’s a clever idea, but the bubbles weren’t as full as I’m used to with Lush. I wasn’t impressed with the fragrance either, its just a generic sweet/spicy smell that has been duplicated time and time again. I could have just gotten another “dud”, but the rest of Santa’s Sack wasn’t enough to make me want to retry it.

Melting Snowman

First of all, I know my snowman’s little nose is missing, but thats ok right? This cute little bath melt has a really deep, rich clove and cinnamon scent. If you are prone to headaches due to strong smells, I would avoid this one like the plague. Its not like the smell is strong in the sense that its all you’re able to smell and it lingers on your skin for a long time, but its strong in the sense that what you do smell gets into your nose and can irritate it. I think it just has a tad too much clove in it. So the only thing I really liked about the Melting Snowman was its looks.

Party Popper

The Party Popper is a bag of tricks! Its the absolute sweetest bath bomb I’ve ever used, it smells like bubblegum, tangerine, and sweet candy. This one has the popping candy in it to create the crackling sounds; and it also has “confetti” in it that doubles as a melon soap to rub all over your body. If you like sweet smells like the Snow Fairy products from Lush, this will be your new favorite bath bomb.

In addition to the cool things with pictures mentioned above, I also picked up the Snow Fairy Shower Gel and the Popcorn Lip Scrub. I first got a taste of Snow Fairy a few years back when they released the Snow Fairy Lip Tint, and from then on Ive been a super fan. So needless to say when LUSH released the shower gel this year i was thrilled! Pick this one up if you can! And as for the Popcorn Lip Scrub…I prefer Mint Julips.
