Hey Everyone!

IMG_3727

This month went by SO quickly for me! Here is what I ended up using the most :

Revlon Age Defying Foundation : This foundation offers light/medium coverage but feels like nothing is on your skin. It has a serum-like consistency, leaves a slightly dewy finish, and has SPF 20. I use the shade 10 Bare Buff. $12 at drugstores.

Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Wine : Although I am in the lightest shade range, and this shade was in the section for the deepest skin tones, I absolutely love it! It reminds me of MAC’s Frankly Scarlett, but a bit more plum-y. $4.50 at drugstores.

Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara : This mascara caught my eye at the beginning of this month due to it’s rubber wand that reminded me of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara. Unfortunately its no where near dupe-material like I had hoped, but this is still a decent mascara; though I don’t think I will repurchase it. $8.99 at Ulta.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer : I’ve had more problematic skin than usual this month, and have resorted back to this heavy duty, cover everything concealer. It’s seriously a life-saver. I use the shade NW20. $18 at MAC Stores or Macys.

Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment : I have been loving this product this month because not only is it ultra moisturizing and luxurious, but it has SPF 15! $22.50 at Sephora.

Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish in Cafe Pink : I love the Revlon Colorstay line in general, but their nail polishes take the cake. They go on smoothly and evenly, and last forever without chipping. Cafe Pink is a gorgeous baby pink that reminds me of animal crackers! In the bottle it has a pink sheen, but it doesn’t transfer to your nails. $5 at drugstores.

Pacifica Perfume in Tahitian Gardenia : I rediscovered this perfume after getting it in an Ipsy Bag a few months ago, and have been loving it for this month. It’s exotic and fresh. $12 at Target.

Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel : I said before that my skin was more problematic than usual this past month, so in conjunction with my super concealer, I used this spot treatment to actually fight the blemishes. This product gets a 10/10 from me! $16 at Sephora.

How to : Instantly Healthy and Glowing Skin

Hey Everyone! Today I am going to share with you how I get super healthy looking and glowing skin. I am very pale and cant get very much natural sun, so I have to fake it! This technique is really quick and easy, and works for every skin type and skin problem, from acne to mature. If you want to see how to look like you’ve just spent a week on vacation, then follow these steps!

(Swatches and Pictures Below)

What I use : ** It’s totally fine to improvise, this is just what I have and what looks best on me**

Loreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer

Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer

Clinique Even Better Foundation

Q-Tip

*optional*

*Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki Brush

*Revlon Colorstay Concealer

*Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism

*Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer

*MAC Bare Study Paint Pot

*Urban Decay Primer Potion in Skin

*Buxom Lip Gloss in April

The first step to achieve this look is, obviously, to cleanse your skin (preferably lightly exfoliate), and then apply a good moisturizer.

Next, take your Loreal Magic Lumi Primer, or any white highlighting cream/liquid, and apply that to the tops of your cheekbones, under your eyes, your eye’s inner corner, your browbone, and your cupids bow (above your top lip).

On a palette or the back of your hand, take half the amount of the Clinique Even Better Foundation you normally use and the same amount (or slightly less) of your Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer, or any golden or bronzing highlighter you have, and mix them together with a Q-Tip.

Apply this mixture with your Sigma F84 Brush to your face, excluding the areas where you already applied the white highlighter. Then, wipe off your brush (or use a clean one of the same style) and gently blend the edges of where the white highlighter and the foundation mixture meet. Voila!

*Optional Steps

Cover up any spots or discoloration with your concealer. I like the Revlon Colorstay Concealer.

Then apply a light  bronzer to your cheekbones, hairline, and jawline. I like to use the Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer.

Next apply a sheer light pink blush with a slight frost, like the Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism, to the apples of your cheeks and slightly blend back.

For the eyes, apply your Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin from you lid to your crease. Then lightly pat on your MAC Barestudy Paint Pot to your lid and inner corner.

Finish off with a light pink lip gloss like the Buxom Lip Gloss in April.

Why This Works…

By mixing a golden bronze highlighter with your foundation you are adding subtle dimension to the skin. The foundation balances out the highlighter without taking away the healthy sun-kissed glow, and also without the bronze-gold sheen being too obvious.

Because we aren’t using the bronze-gold illuminizer as a true “highlighter”, the white highlighter adds another form of dimension by accentuating the desired points of the face.

You could easily achieve this same look by using your hands, but I feel that using a brush (especially the F84) makes everything blend more seamlessly.

The Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer is a mosaic of various bronze colors in the same shade range, so it adds depth; and it also has a slight sheen which adds to our glowy goal. A blush with a slight frost also adds subtle glow; I feel that light pink is the most flattering because it is youthful and soft.

As far as the eyes, using cream products can make you look healthier and more beautiful because they look the most natural. The primer potion is slightly darker than the paint pot, so again we are playing with depth and light.

Finally, I chose the Buxom lip gloss because it is sheer, has a slight sparkle, and is plumping. All of those things allude to youth and health.

Best Concealer Ever!

Hey Everyone! Today I want to talk about the ongoing battle I had trying to find the “perfect” concealer. Up until finding my holy grail concealer, I had been using the MAC Studio Finish Concealer to cover blemishes and scarring ,and the MAC Select MoistureCover Concealer as my under-eye concealer and also to cover any redness. While these are great concealers, I still found that they weren’t doing their job as well as I would have liked.

The Studio Finish Concealer covered the blemishes well, but if I had to use it on an area that I had enlarged pores, such as my cheeks, it made both the blemish and the pores stand out. I also found that it “slid” off my skin easily even after being set with powder, and needed frequent touch ups. I also had to be careful not to touch up too frequently or use too much because this concealer was easily made to look cakey and dry.

The Select MoistureCover concealed redness very well, but creased and settled into my fine lines terribly. And if I added more to touch up under my eyes, it got patchy and dry; even though the word “moisture” is in its name! Other than that, I really like how light it feels on the skin and how natural it looks.

That being said, I found myself starting to use my current favorite foundation, Revlon ColorStay, as a concealer by using it under and around my eyes, and by doubling up on it on blemishes. By doing this I had no problems with creasing under my eyes, blemishes being uncovered, or prominent enlarged pores. Then one day when I was browsing the drugstore makeup aisle, I came across the matching Revlon ColorStay Concealer ! Needless to say I started using that instead of doubling up on the foundation and from then on it has been my go-to holy grail concealer. Here are the main things I like about it :

* NO Creasing Under Eyes

* NO Settling into Fine Lines or Pores

* All Day and Night Super Staying-Power

* Natural Finish

* True Full Coverage

* Neutral Colors (not overly warm or cool toned)

* Light Feeling Consistency

* Easy to Use Doe-Foot Applicator

Revlon ColorStay Comparison + more !

Hey Everyone! Today I am going to compare and review the two formulas of the Revlon ColorStay foundations. I first tried the Revlon ColorStay foundation in the Combination/Oily formula after seeing a lot of positive reviews on some of my favorite blogs. I immediately fell in love with it and use it still sometimes in place of some of my high end long-wearing foundations such as the Make Up Forever Matte Velvet Plus or Lancome Teint Idole Ultra. To me this foundation gives the same coverage as the high end ones just mentioned, without feeling heavy as they sometimes do. After trying the ColorStay, I decided to try the Revlon ColorStay Whipped Creme foundation and ended up adding it to my Worst Foundations Ever list; linked here: http://wp.me/p2O2wx-59 , due to the terrible consistency and finish on the skin.

Just recently I saw a YouTube video on MakeupByTiffanyD ‘s channel where she said how much she loved the Revlon ColorStay foundation in the Normal/Dry Skin formula. She said that it looked like true skin whereas the Combination/Oily formula looked “foundationy” and fake. I tend to always agree with her opinions, but in this case… here’s what I think:

*I have shade 110 Ivory in both formulas*

Revlon ColorStay Makeup Normal/Dry : This foundation has a medium consistency in thickness and offers medium to full coverage. On the skin, it feels relatively light and has a slight baby powder scent that dissipates. This formula is a bit lighter and cooler in color than the other and has a slightly powdered finish on the skin (which I do not care for). Although it does not contain any SPF, it can leave a white cast in photos under poor lighting. I was able to wear this foundation throughout the day and night without my skin getting too oily or too dry while maintaing the flawless coverage and minimal to no touchups.

Revlon ColorStay Makeup Combination/Oily : This foundation has a medium consistency in thickness and offers medium to full coverage as well. It feels light on the skin and has a slight “foundation” scent. I would describe this foundation as being a “skin stain” due to the way it blends flawlessly into the skin and disappears. It contains an SPF of 6 but does not leave a white cast in photos. Like it’s sister formula, with average skin it does not settle into fine lines or pores (I have enlarged pores from acne/scarring and it does not settle). It controls oil better than the normal/dry formula and is slightly warmer and more tan/yellow in color. I feel that this formula lasts longer and is an overall better foundation.

NYC Smooch Proof Lip Stain Review and Swatches

Hello! This post is about the NYC Smootch Proof 16H Lip Stains. These are my absolute favorite lip stains currently on the market! They literally last all day unless you lick your lips frequently, which if thats the case, they will only fade to a less intense saturation of color (I know this to be true because when I am riding horses I tend to lip my lips quite often for some reason). While I would not say this is a moisturizing product, they do not dry out even the most severely chapped lips. I have tried the Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balms and the Covergirl Outlast Lipstains and they do not last nearly as long and dry out my lips terribly. They also tend to bleed out ; while the NYC Lip Stains do not. (PICTURES AND SWATCHES BELOW)

They have a standard lip stain applicator, which resembles a Crayola Marker, and a slight sweet lemon scent. The colors of the actual stain itself tend to always be a couple shades darker than the tube color. That is to be expected with stains because deeper colors are much easier to make stay than lighter shades. Although the color selection is decent to good, I wish they would expand the line considerably; just because I like them so much! Lastly, they last an average amount of time for a lip stain, which is anywhere from a few weeks to up to three months before drying out. Fortunately they are at a price point to where it is not a great expense to replace them after its lifespan has ended. You can get them at :
