Best Brow Products!

Hey Everyone!

I know I’ve been totally slacking on the posts lately, and I’m SO sorry, but I promise I will post as much as I can from here forward! ūüôā

Ok now that that’s out of the way, this post is all about my favorite eyebrow products including new finds, and tried and true staples. I find that brows can totally transform your entire look, so I like to have a few different types AND shades of products to add just the right touch. Here are the ones I like :

**For¬†reference¬† I’m light skinned with very dark brown brows, light brown/hazel eyes, and light brown hair with honey highlights. These products work on me but are also versatile for different skin tones, brow colors, etc.**

Pencil :

Starlet Pencil in All I Want Is Peace , Love, and Chocolate This pencil is warm cocoa color with red undertones. It is moderately creamy and blends out well with a spoolie. I would recommend this if you want a warm, strong brow.  At starletcosmetics.com

Gel :

Chella Eyebrow Defining Gel –¬†This is a clear gel with a large soft mascara-type wand. I love it because it leaves absolutely no residue. $18 at¬†http://chella.com/products/item/beautiful_brow_gel

Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium/Deep –¬†This gel is a new favorite, and is amazing! It has a tiny tapered wand and is great for a quick boost in color and volume. The color is a neutral (leaning cool) liver/taupe. ¬†*I know liver is’nt the most appealing color name, but it matches the actual color best* $22 at¬†http://www.benefitcosmetics.com/product/view/gimme-brow

Powder :

MAC Wedge –¬†This product¬†is a perfect neutral soft medium brown with a matte finish. It¬†has been in my collection since the start, and is one of my favorite shades of all time.

MAC Soba –¬†This shade is a soft golden brown with very slight gold shimmer. Although the description sounds a bit scary, it actually gives a very natural warm brow.

MAC Cork –¬†This is the warm version of Wedge that gives a slightly fuller brow. It is a warm-toned soft medium brown.

MAC Espresso –¬†This color is a neutral espresso brown. It’s great for a fully defined, strong brow.

All MAC Eyeshadows are $15 and can be purchased at maccosmetics.com

Tools :

Spoolie – I’m not sure if this is the “technical” name for this brush, or if there even is a technical name, but regardless this brush, which is essentially a clean mascara wand, is essential for brow care. It’s great for brushing, priming, taming, and distributing color on the brows. You can get a really nice spoolie from Sigma for $10, or a cheaper one at any beauty supply store.¬†http://www.sigmabeauty.com/Brow_and_Lash_E80_p/e80.htm

MAC 208 Angled Brow Brush –¬†This brush is also essential for brow care. It is great for defining and applying color. I like the MAC 208 because it is much stiffer than a lot of angled brushes on the market, which makes for more precise application. At MAC for $20.¬†http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/145/813/208/index.tmpl

July Favorites

Hey Everyone!

This month went by SO quickly for me! Here is what I ended up using the most :

Revlon Age Defying Foundation : This foundation offers light/medium coverage but feels like nothing is on your skin. It has a serum-like consistency, leaves a slightly dewy finish, and has SPF 20. I use the shade 10 Bare Buff. $12 at drugstores.

Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Deep Wine :¬†Although I am in the lightest shade range, and this shade was in the section for the deepest skin tones, I absolutely love it! It reminds me of MAC’s Frankly Scarlett, but a bit more plum-y. $4.50 at drugstores.

Loreal Voluminous Million Lashes Excess Mascara :¬†This mascara caught my eye at the beginning of this month due to it’s rubber wand that reminded me of the Benefit They’re Real Mascara. Unfortunately its no where near dupe-material like I had hoped, but this is still a decent mascara; though I don’t think I will repurchase it. $8.99 at Ulta.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer :¬†I’ve had more problematic skin than usual this month, and have resorted back to this heavy duty, cover everything concealer. It’s seriously a life-saver. I use the shade NW20. $18 at MAC Stores or Macys.

Fresh Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment : I have been loving this product this month because not only is it ultra moisturizing and luxurious, but it has SPF 15! $22.50 at Sephora.

Revlon Colorstay Nail Polish in Cafe Pink :¬†I love the Revlon Colorstay line in general, but their nail polishes take the cake. They go on smoothly and evenly, and last forever without chipping. Cafe Pink is a gorgeous baby pink that reminds me of animal crackers! In the bottle it has a pink sheen, but it doesn’t transfer to your nails. $5 at drugstores.

Pacifica Perfume in Tahitian Gardenia :¬†I rediscovered this perfume after getting it in an Ipsy Bag a few months ago, and have been loving it for this month. It’s exotic and fresh. $12 at Target.

Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel : I said before that my skin was more problematic than usual this past month, so in conjunction with my super concealer, I used this spot treatment to actually fight the blemishes. This product gets a 10/10 from me! $16 at Sephora.

Top 10 Best Perfumes

Hey Everyone! Today I wanted to share with you my list of the Top 10 Best Perfumes available. Over the years I have tried a lot of different perfumes, and have found that I am drawn to ones that are unique, as well as long-lasting.

When I walk by, I don’t want other people to be able to instantly identify the perfume I am wearing; which nowadays is so easy when everyone wears super popular perfumes like Viva La Juicy. My goal is to intrigue others and to personify the “character” I am feeling like that day. That being said, I find that perfume is a great tool in impressing people with the message YOU want to send. For example, a lot of people say that I look young for my age; so when I need to command respect in a room with people who would otherwise discard me due to my appearance, an extra sophisticated, classic perfume can subliminally change their mind.

With #1 being the most favorite (although they are all very close and I love each one for different reasons), here are the ones that I think are the most unique, long-lasting, and pleasant :

10. Philosophy – Love Sweet Love¬†: is very sweet and innocent. It’s notes include sweet fruits like mango, and light florals. It has a bit of musk as well that makes it not so “childish”. I like wearing this perfume during the day on errands, or even out to lunch. You can get 2 oz for $42 at Sephora.

9. Victoria’s Secret – Sexy Little Things Noir¬†: is the opposite of sweet and innocent. It is feminine in that it has top notes of blackberry and vanilla, but it turns ultra seductive with jasmine, musk, and woody notes. Although I don’t wear this perfume very often, I appreciate its originality, and love wearing it when I want to feel extra sassy. You can get 1.7 oz for $44 at Victoria’s Secret.

8. Dior РMiss Dior Cherie : is young, but smart. It has fruity top notes like cherry mixed with florals like jasmine and rose, and a warm base of caramel and patchouli. I would imagine this to be the perfume of a very young business executive in Paris, who has a youthful love for things like ballet and romance. I enjoy wearing this both day and night. You can get 1.7 oz for $90 at Sephora.

7. Jessica Simpson РFancy Nights : is one of the most warm and spicy fragrances I have ever experienced. It immediately catches your attention with amber, vanilla, and musk, mixed with seductive florals like jasmine. I like warming up with this on cold winter nights. *this product appears to be discontinued, but you can find it in the 1 oz packaging at Target for $19.99.

6. Burberry – The Beat¬†: is sophisticated with a rock and roll twist. It is woody and musky with unique additions like iris, pink pepper, and tea. I’m not sure how Burberry does it, but something about it just feels british. I like wearing this perfume when I want to feel refined, but a little edgy. You can get 1.7 for $60 ¬†at Ulta.

5. Bobbi Brown – Beach¬†: resembles sunblock, but in a really good way. It’s notes of jasmine, mandarin, and sea spray instantly make you feel like its summer and you’re on a warm sandy beach in the tropics. I like wearing this when I need a little summer pick-me-up. You can get 1.7 oz for $67.50 at Sephora.

4. Philosophy РAmazing Grace : is very clean and light. It has notes of musk, freesia, and rose. I wear it when I want to feel ultra feminine and understated. You can get 2 oz for $44 at Sephora.

3. Ralph Lauren РRomance : is extra sophisticated. It has notes of chamomile, ginger, and white musk, mixed with very light florals like freesia and rose. I like wearing this when I want to be taken seriously and command the attention of the room. You can get 1.7 oz for $65 at Sephora.

2. Sarah Jessica Parker РLovely : is classy, sophisticated, and ultra feminine. It has soft white musk with lavender, and a touch of citrus. It is very intimate and soft, and I like to wear it when I want to invite people to come in closer. You can get 3.4 oz for $68 at Macys.

1. Tocca РFlorence : is a perfect blend of white musk, gardenia, rose, and jasmine, with a hint of fruit. When I wear it, I feel like a powerful queen who is just a touch evil. It embodies power, sophistication, beauty, and class; and has become my signature fragrance. You can get 1.7 oz for $68 at Sephora.

Let me know what your favorite perfumes are, and if any of these made your list!

Mascara Reviews and Pictures!

Hey Ya’ll! This post features the mascaras that I have purchased and gotten samples of from the past year or so. And no I don’t use year old mascara! I simply have kept them for the purpose of reviewing later. ūüôā Here We Go :

Clinique Lash Doubling Mascara Рhas a medium sized tapered bristle brush and is medium wet in the consistency. It is great for lengthening as well as volumizing. It does not smudge and lasts all day on top and bottom lashes. $16.00 at Sephora. One of my favorites.

Clinique High Impact Mascara Рhas a medium sized bristle brush with a slightly tapered tip. It is a wet formula, has great staying power, and is volumizing as well as lengthening. $16.00 at Sephora.

Maybelline Mega Plush Volum’ Express¬†– has a medium sized oval bristle flexing brush and a very wet gel-mouse formula. $6.99 at Ulta.¬†

Maybelline One By One Volum’ Express¬†– has a medium sized oval rubber flexing brush and a medium wet consistency. It provides average volumization. $7.99 at Ulta.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – has a small spiraled bristle brush and a semi-wet formula. This mascara clumps easily and I highly dislike it. $5.49 at Ulta.

Loreal Extra Volume Collagen Mascara Рhas a medium-large bristle brush and a wet consistency. I prefer using this mascara over a dry mascara to add extra volume, rather than on its own. When used by itself it can clump and smudge. $8.99 at Ulta.

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion¬†– has a thick medium sized ¬†rubber brush and a flat top. It’s a medium-dry mascara and adds a good amount of length and volume. $9.49 at Ulta.

Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Рhas a thick medium sized rubber brush with a flat top and a medium consistency. It is a holy grail mascara for me and add tons of length and volume when worn lightly or built up. $8.99 at Ulta.

Origins Underwear for Lashes – has a tapered spiraled bristle brush. It is essentially a lash primer that claims to add volume by attaching white fibers to the ends of your lashes. I don’t feel that this product works well at all, and is just a messy unnecessary extra step. ¬† $16.00 at Origins.

Origins Full Story Lush-Lash Mascara Рhas a small-medium bristle brush and a wet consistency. This mascara clumps and smudges horribly; especially when paired with the Origins Underwear for Lashes. $15.00 at Origins.

Bare Minerals Flawless Definition Volumizing Mascara Рhas a thick medium sized bristle brush and a medium-dry formula. This is one of my all time favorite mascaras because it add the most incredible amount of volume and thickness to the lashes and is smudge proof. $18.00 at Sephora and Ulta.

Benefit They’re Real¬†– has a medium extra spikey plastic brush with added spikes to the tip. It is a medium-wet formula and is also one of my favorites. It quickly adds volume and length to your lashes and when applied heavily, it can look like you are wearing natural looking false lashes. $23.00 at Sephora and Ulta.

Pop Beauty Smoky Lash Kapow Рhas a medium sized slightly tapered bristle brush and a medium consistency. This mascara is volumizing but frequently flakes and smudges. $18.50 at Ulta.

The Balm What’s Your Type “The Body Builder” Mascara¬†– has a small bristle brush and a very wet formula. It is volumzing, but clumps and makes your lashes look messy and goopey. $19.00 at thebalm.com .

Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes – has a very tapered bristle brush and a wet-medium formula. It adds mega volume and length and last all day and night.
