2013 Beauty Wish List!

Hey Beauties!

I am so excited for this season because there are SO MANY amazing sales and gift sets coming out! This post will be a great Holiday Gift Guide, as well as a list of items you should add to your list. Even if you don’t partake in the holiday season, these are some great products to pick up while all the sales are on.

*These are actual products that I hope to pick up this sale season, so I do not have any actual reviews of these products (yet). Also, this is an extravagant list of beauty products, and I do not want anyone to think that I am “asking for” or “expect to get” all of these things; this is just more of a master wish list of things I like/think are worth the money* 🙂

Here we go :

Under $25

Soap and Glory Good, Butter, Best – a 1.69oz trial size of their 3 best selling body butters including The Righteous Body Butter, Sugar Crush Body Buttercream, and Butter Yourself Body Cream. It comes in a cute little box packaging, and would be great to give/get in a set or individually. $15 at Sephora

Origins Drink Up Lip Balm Set – a set of 4 gorgeous lip glosses in the shades Nude Nectarine, Pink Guava, Plum Punch, and Cherry Pop. Again, these would be awesome to give/get as a set or individually. $22 at Macys

Bumble and Bumble Tonic Shampoo – a stimulating shampoo with peppermint and tea tree oil to invigorate and balance the scalp. I know shampoo seems like kind of a strange thing to get excited over, but my hair stylist uses this on me, and let me tell you, it feels amazing. 8oz for $25 at Sephora

Fresh Soy Cleanser – a facial cleanser that uses soy proteins to cleanse, tone, firm, and moisturize the skin. It is suitable for all skin types, and feels absolutely fantastic. Again, I know its strange to get excited about something a simple as a cleanser, but trust me. 1.7oz for $15 at Sephora

Beauty Blender Sponge – is the number one cult favorite makeup tool for flawless foundation application. EVERY beauty lover needs one of these in their life. $19.95 (varies) Sephora

Under $50

Origins Ginger Treats Set – is an adorably packaged set of 3 ginger products including the Ginger Float Cream Bubble Bath, the Ginger Soufflé Whipped Body Cream, and the Incredible Spreadable Smoothing Ginger Body Scrub. 3.4fl.oz each. $39.50 at Macys

Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes – a unique take on the popular “Naked” type palettes that every beauty company has taken a shot at. I like this one best because though it does have the essential neutrals that every palette of this type requires, it adds a small variety of shades that even the most seasoned beauty expert has not seen in a palette of this kind; as well as an unexpected variation of neutrals. $48 at Sephora

Tarte Off The Cuff Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush Palette – is a palette that consists of 5 coveted amazonian clay blushes. The shades include Dollface, Dazzled, Darling, Crave, and Park Ave Princess. This set also includes a black bracelet with a gold bow. $42 at Sephora

Philosophy Gourmet Popcorn Toppings Set – a set of 3 delicious three-in-one(shampoo, shower gel, bubble bath) products in “flavors” that include Caramel Drizzle, English Toffee, and Praline Crunch. I always look forward to Philosophy’s seasonal selection, and am never disappointed. $26 at Sephora

Bumble and Bumble Super Rich Conditioner – is an exceptionally luxurious conditioner that I have only been able thus far to experience in my salon. That will change. Soon. $25 at Sephora

Under $100

Ciate Nail Lab – a kit for the true nail polish lover that contains 46 different nail polishes, top coats, glitters, tools, etc. as well as 14 instructional cards. It also comes in an adorable vanity drawer style container. Enough said. $65 at Sephora

Buxom Shimmer and Shake Lip Collection – Let me just say that I am fully obsessed with the Buxom Lip Glosses, so when I found out their holiday set contained 15 polishes and creams, I about cried tears of joy. The shades include Lauren, Rachel, Olivia, Victoria, Trixie, Dolly, Sandy, Katie, Sugar, Royale, Mudslide, Pink Lady, White Russian, Amanda, and Cherry Flip. $59 at Sephora.

Tocca Meet The Girls – This set discovery was another tears of joy experience for me. Tocca is my all time favorite perfume brand, and this set contains 10 different .14oz sample sprays! It includes Cleopatra, Stella, Florence (my signature scent), Brigitte, Giuletta, Colette, Bianca, Graciella, Violette, Liliana. Feel free to share the love amongst your friends with this set too 🙂 $62 at Sephora

July 2013 Ipsy Bag

Hey Everyone! It’s time again to talk about what came in this months Ipsy Bag!

Big Sexy Hair ‘Weather Proof’ : is a humidity resistant spray that you apply to a finished look to resist humidity and frizz, as well as keep your hair in place (like a hairspray). It smells like a cross between generic hairspray and dental fluoride.

BH Cosmetics ‘California Collection’ Palette : is an eyeshadow trio including the shades ‘Hollywood’, ‘San Francisco’, and ‘Malibu’. ‘Hollywood’ is a deep bright purple, ‘San Francisco’ is a medium sandy brown with gold glitter, and ‘Malibu’ is bright yellow gold. All of these shades are very sheer and blend decently. Unfortunately ‘Hollywood’ is the most poorly pigmented, and ‘San Francisco’ can get a bit muddy. ‘Malibu’ is very similar to Urban Decay’s ‘Half Baked’, but is much more yellow toned.

Coola Mineral Sunscreen : is an organic tinted moisturizer with spf 20. It’s color is that of a light warm bisque, I have “MAC NC20” skin and it gives me a warm glow without getting too orange. It has a very light liquidy consistency, and light but buildable coverage. This product is also green friendly, recycle friendly, and cruelty free.

Pop Beauty ‘Pouty Pop Crayon’ in Fuchsia Flirt : is a twist-up tinted lip balm crayon. ‘Fuchsia Flirt’ is a neutral flamingo pink, and contrary to the name I would not describe this color as fuchsia.

Demeter Roll On Perfume Oil in Salt Air : is an oil based roll on perfume. I got one of these in a previous Ipsy Bag and liked the scent, but unfortunately these are very light, hardly noticeable fragrances and do not last more than a few minutes once applied. ‘Salt Air’ has notes of white sand, ocean salt, and slight mandarin. Although, I love Bobbi Brown ‘Beach’ which has similar notes, I do not care for this fragrance.

Best Eyeshadows for Fair Skin

Hey Everyone! Since you all seemed to love my post on the Best Blushes for Fair Skin : http://wp.me/p2O2wx-7P , I thought I would make a little series of similar posts. This one, as you can probably tell from the title, is about eyeshadows that I think look especially great on those of us with fair skin. Like I said before, fair skinned people can get away with wearing ANY color because we are such a “blank canvas”; but these are the shades that I find are the most universally flattering regardless of skin type/undertone/etc.

Bobbi Brown Candlelight / MAC Ricepaper : These are both great brightening lid colors. Candlelight is more champagne colored, and Ricepaper is more yellow.

Bobbi Brown Bone / MAC Brule : These are both almost invisible flesh tones. Bone is slightly more pigmented.

Urban Decay Tease / MAC Haux : These are both great mauve/brown colors that look amazing in the crease. Tease is moderately more purple.

Urban Decay Naked / Bobbi Brown Wheat / MAC Wedge : These are all neutral medium/light browns that are great for crease and blending. Naked is the most neutral, Wheat is cooler, and Wedge is warmer.

MAC Folie / Urban Decay Buck / NYX Dance The Tides : These are all warm medium browns. Folie is a reddened brown, Buck is a tan brown, and Dance the Tides has a warm copper/orange tint.

MAC Cork : is a unique warm medium brown thats great for the crease and brows.

MAC Shale : is a sheer muted cool purple. I think it is one of the most underrated MAC eyeshadows, I love it!

MAC Naked Lunch : looks much better on pale skin than All That Glitters. It is basically the same peachy pink color, just taken down a few notches.

NYX Tropical : is a great coral/orange shade that doesn’t overpower your whole look.

MAC Expensive Pink : is similar to NYX Tropical, but is much more pink.

Urban Decay Sin : a great frosted silky pink, without being too pink! Looks great on the lid or as a highlight.

Urban Decay Sidecar : is a warm light taupe/brown with heavy silver sparkle.

Urban Decay Darkhorse : is a warm charcoal that isn’t too cool or dark; which makes it a GREAT option for fair skin because it isn’t overpowering.

Urban Decay Toasted / MAC Sable : These are both warm pink/browns. Toasted is slightly pinker, and Sable is slightly more red toned.

MAC Big Bounce Shadow in Count Your Assets : is a a bright cool purple. Its great as a base or on its own. Although this product is discontinued, you can look for something similar. This is just what I have.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Blue Paradise : is a great color for pale people to rock, as most people can’t! It is a medium blue base with purple duochrome.

MAC Paint Pot in Morning Frost : is a slightly cool taupe/brown. This was limited edition, but again, you can easily find something similar.

What are your favorites?

May 2013 IPSY Bag

Hey Everyone! This month’s IPSY (My Glam) Bag was amazing! It’s theme was “Spring Fling”, and here is what came in it :

Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl Luminizing Body Butter

Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia Perfume

Zoya Nail Polish in Blu

Juice Beauty Lip Gloss in Pink

Yaby Concealer in Buff

Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow in Intergalactic

The Pacifica Coconut Crushed Pearl Luminizing Body Butter is medium in thickness and smells like fruity coconut. It has quite a bit of pearlized sparkle in it, and contains coconut oil, pearls, and sea minerals.

The Pacifica Tahitian Gardenia Perfume comes in rollerball packaging and has notes of gardenia, lemongrass, and white sand. It also has a slight note of sweet sugar. I love the scent but unfortunately it does not last more than a few hours once applied.

The Zoya Nail Polish in Blu comes in the BIG5FREE formula and is an opaque pastel light blue.

The Juice Beauty Lipgloss is a sheer raspberry pink with slight silver shimmer. It has a sweet lemon scent and is extremely moisturizing. As with all Juice Beauty products, it is organic and cruelty free. I absolutely love this lipgloss and will be purchasing more!

The Yaby Concealer offers flawless coverage and lasts all day. It is a cream to powder finish and is absolutely incredible.

Unfortunately, I was not completely blown away by the Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow. The pigmentation is not great, and I do not care for the texture. Urban Decay eyeshadows are usually very soft and blend well, but this one just didn’t cut it for me. It is best used as a glitter overlay, than an actual eyeshadow.

How to : Instantly Healthy and Glowing Skin

Hey Everyone! Today I am going to share with you how I get super healthy looking and glowing skin. I am very pale and cant get very much natural sun, so I have to fake it! This technique is really quick and easy, and works for every skin type and skin problem, from acne to mature. If you want to see how to look like you’ve just spent a week on vacation, then follow these steps!

(Swatches and Pictures Below)

What I use : ** It’s totally fine to improvise, this is just what I have and what looks best on me**

Loreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer

Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer

Clinique Even Better Foundation

Q-Tip

*optional*

*Sigma F84 Angled Kabuki Brush

*Revlon Colorstay Concealer

*Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism

*Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer

*MAC Bare Study Paint Pot

*Urban Decay Primer Potion in Skin

*Buxom Lip Gloss in April

The first step to achieve this look is, obviously, to cleanse your skin (preferably lightly exfoliate), and then apply a good moisturizer.

Next, take your Loreal Magic Lumi Primer, or any white highlighting cream/liquid, and apply that to the tops of your cheekbones, under your eyes, your eye’s inner corner, your browbone, and your cupids bow (above your top lip).

On a palette or the back of your hand, take half the amount of the Clinique Even Better Foundation you normally use and the same amount (or slightly less) of your Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer, or any golden or bronzing highlighter you have, and mix them together with a Q-Tip.

Apply this mixture with your Sigma F84 Brush to your face, excluding the areas where you already applied the white highlighter. Then, wipe off your brush (or use a clean one of the same style) and gently blend the edges of where the white highlighter and the foundation mixture meet. Voila!

*Optional Steps

Cover up any spots or discoloration with your concealer. I like the Revlon Colorstay Concealer.

Then apply a light  bronzer to your cheekbones, hairline, and jawline. I like to use the Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer.

Next apply a sheer light pink blush with a slight frost, like the Smashbox Soft Lights in Prism, to the apples of your cheeks and slightly blend back.

For the eyes, apply your Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin from you lid to your crease. Then lightly pat on your MAC Barestudy Paint Pot to your lid and inner corner.

Finish off with a light pink lip gloss like the Buxom Lip Gloss in April.

Why This Works…

By mixing a golden bronze highlighter with your foundation you are adding subtle dimension to the skin. The foundation balances out the highlighter without taking away the healthy sun-kissed glow, and also without the bronze-gold sheen being too obvious.

Because we aren’t using the bronze-gold illuminizer as a true “highlighter”, the white highlighter adds another form of dimension by accentuating the desired points of the face.

You could easily achieve this same look by using your hands, but I feel that using a brush (especially the F84) makes everything blend more seamlessly.

The Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl Bronzer is a mosaic of various bronze colors in the same shade range, so it adds depth; and it also has a slight sheen which adds to our glowy goal. A blush with a slight frost also adds subtle glow; I feel that light pink is the most flattering because it is youthful and soft.

As far as the eyes, using cream products can make you look healthier and more beautiful because they look the most natural. The primer potion is slightly darker than the paint pot, so again we are playing with depth and light.

Finally, I chose the Buxom lip gloss because it is sheer, has a slight sparkle, and is plumping. All of those things allude to youth and health.

What I’m Brining to IMATS : The Complete Beauty Edition

Hey Everyone!

As you can probably tell, I am going to IMATS Pasadena this weekend! Last year (2012) was my very first year going and I had a fantastic time! However, before going I searched “what to bring/wear to IMATS” and “what to expect at IMATS” and shockingly found very little. So here is the complete list of what I am going to be bringing with me beauty wise :

SKIN: Loreal Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream (Fair), Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Siberia), MAC Studio Finish Concealer (NW15), MAC Select MoistureCover Concealer (NC15), Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Under Eye Illuminator, Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer, Sonia Kashuk Brightening Powder, Nars Albatross Highlighter, Benefit Watts Up Highlighter, MAC MSF (Light Plus), MakeupForever Blush (#10), Physicians Formula Light Bronze Pearl.

EYES: Urban Decay Primer Potion (Original), Bobbi Brown Rich Caviar Eye Palette, MAC quad (Espresso, Satin Taupe, Expensive Pink, Shale), N7 Liquid Liner, Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil (Zero/Whiskey), Chella Brow Gel, Benefit They’re Real Mascara, Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara,

LIPS: Ulta Lip Pencil (Rose), MAC lipstick (Glamourdaze), Loreal Color Riche Balm (Nourishing Nude).

BRUSHES: (see video)

When you get to the show you will need to wait in line to get your wristband first, then you will get into another line  which is around the other side of the building (you’ll see it). After you get in you want to head to the booth you most want to see first ( I recommend researching which companies/shows/etc will be there before arriving ) because chances are that if you skip the booth you want to go to the most because the line seems too long, you’ll end up having to wait in an even BIGGER line later. Unfortunately lines do not “die down” at IMATS. You’ll also want to research what kinds of discounts the companies are offering and make a budget for yourself.

As far as what to wear, I’ve seen it all. You want to look good obviously because you will be taking pictures and meeting people in the beauty industry, but don’t take that as an invitation to wear a prom dress! Anything from nice jeans and a t shirt to a day time dress would work perfectly. I will be wearing a blousey button down and black jeans with chunky jewelry and cute flats from C Wonder. Speaking of flats, thats exactly what you will want to wear. You will most definitely be waiting in long lines and fighting through crowds all day.

When lunch comes around, there is a nice plaza right across the street with places like PF Changs and Rubios. A bit farther than that (walking or driving is ok) is Colorado Blvd which has tons of places to eat. Just make sure to keep your wristband on!

Thats about all the tips/info I can think of besides to just have fun and take tons of pictures. If you are going and want to do a meet up you can message me or tweet me. I will be checking my twitter and posting pics all day 🙂 hope to see you there!

Naked 2 Palette Holiday Makeup

Hey Everyone! Today I did a look with the holiday party theme in mind using the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay. Normally I prefer the original Naked palette, but I thought maybe some of you either only have or prefer the second one, so thats why I chose to use it. I used the colors Foxy, Bootycall, Chopper, Tease, YDK, and Busted to create a look that I would describe as an Angelic-Vixen-Shimmer look. If you want to see how I did it, click on the video :

Here are pictures and descriptions of the products I used:
